After making a sensational debut into Canada’s direct marketing community, Arbonne International is now reaching out to Canada in a new way, extending a hand to women in need.

For the past year they have been a leading corporate supporter of Shelternet, an admirable organization which is empowering women in crisis linking shelters for abused women across the country.

Often the greatest barrier preventing women in abusive relationships from obtaining the help they need is their inability to access the resources that already exist. Realizing they need to escape domestic conflict, these women often don’t know where to go. Shelternet is making it easier for them by using online resources to connect the already existing shelters and provide a national point of contact. Their goal is to increase access for abused women and their children to online help and information and at the same time extend the technological capacity of shelters across Canada to better serve and protect these women and children.

To overcome language issues Shelternet is currently able to offer its website in ten different languages: English, French, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, Farsi and Punjabi. Plans include adding other languages to the site, such as Oji-Cree, Italian, German, Tagalog, Greek, Japanese and Urdu. And because abuse can occur at anytime, day or night, Shelternet operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

More than 525 shelters in Canada currently offer sanctuary, to more than 100,000 women and children, and hundreds of thousands more are served through regional and provincial telephone support and community outreach programs.

As Shelternet strives to offer new hope for Canadian women in crisis Arbonne is right there beside them. Arbonne International Canada unfortunately understands firsthand the devastation that can result if help is not provided in time. Sadly the employees of Arbonne International Canada suffered the loss of one of their own in March of 2007 to Domestic violence. Tragically, Nadine Renee Steeves Parker, former Director of Finance, beloved friend and devoted mother to three beautiful children had her life taken from her, leaving her children orphaned. As Arbonne continues to raise awareness and provide support to Shelternet, it now also provides support to Nadine’s Hope, a trust established by her family for her three young children. In addition to many internal promotions to raise funds for Nadine’s Hope and Shelternet, Arbonne also makes a corporate donation every time a consultant promotes to a higher level. As Arbonne Canada grows, Shelternet grows as well.

Together we can make a difference.
