Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee founded Shaklee in 1956 at age 61 and lived to see it transformed into a Fortune 500 company during his 80s. A man of many talents, Dr. Shaklee's diverse career path included working as a chiropractor, inventor, author, pastor and radio personality. Each experience helped shape his vision. Today, Shaklee's "Better You. Better World.™" philosophy reflects Dr. Shaklee's vision.

He firmly believed that good nutrition was the foundation for overall health and wellness. His nutritional product "Vitalized Minerals" was introduced in 1915, before the concept of vitamins was fully understood.

Dr. Shaklee founded his company not just to earn a healthy profit but also to help people live healthier lives. His experience working one-on-one with patients led to the company's direct sales model. He knew personal conversations were the best way to explain the benefits of prevention.

Dr. Shaklee's innovations didn't end with nutrition. He practiced "Living in Harmony with Nature™" in home care, formulating a biodegradable cleaner decades before environmental safety was a concern. He wouldn't have thought much about contemporary labels like eco-chic, organic or self-actualization, but he was a pioneer in all of them. More than 50 years later, his company has led hundreds of thousands to better, healthier lives—and helped all of us live in a better world.

Roger Barnett had the urgent need to help others. His mother devoted her career to public law and his great uncle, who started selling clocks door-to-door and whose company became a $9-bi 11 ion corporation, gave huge amounts of money to charitable organizations. For Roger Barnett, the interest in Shaklee relies in part on the fact that the company answers the need to make money while providing wellness.

Roger Barnett received his bachelor's degree from Yale University, his law degree from Yale Law School, and his MBA from the Harvard Business School. He began his career at the investment firm of Lazard Freres & Co., where he soon identified a high-growth opportunity; Arcade Inc., a company best known for developing the technology that created scent-sampling strips for advertising and packaging. The Barnett family acquired control of Arcade. Within six years, Roger Barnett expanded it internationally into the world's largest sampling company.

In addition to working with Shaklee and its network of 750,000 Distributors and members, Roger Barnett has been selected as a Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum and is a member of its private investment community. He has also been selected as a Young Leader Forum Fellow by the United States Council on China Relations, and he is a member of the Young President's Organization. Roger Barnett is a member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Opera Association of New York, the Health Advisory Council of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and the corporate board of the Environmental Media Association.
