In 1995, after as his dog Polux jumped into icy waters and saved a drowning man, Real Rousseau determined to do more for animals. But the question was "How?"

Backed by more than 20 years of experience in the soft drink home delivery business, Real set to work on a plan that would combine business with pleasure and put his professional skills to the service of pets and the passion he had for them.

In 1996, his plan became a reality with the launch of Amibouff, a home delivery service for pet food and other pet products.

From 1996 to 2002, the company thrived and its banners grew in number.

In 2002, he forged an alliance with Mondou, a company founded in 1938 that also specializes in the retail sale of pet food and supplies. What followed was a new era of growth that led to Amibouff's becoming one of the largest home delivery networks for pet food and other pet products.

Today, the company has over 100 dealers, most of which are located in Quebec. Others operate in the Maritimes and Ontario under the Petmobile name.

The company's meteoric rise is attributable to two things: Petmobile responds to a real consumer need and it takes good care of its dealers.

When we love our pets, we want only the best for them. So when time comes to get our feathered, fluffy or scaly friends the superior-quality food they deserve, we go out of our way to find a specialized store, not to mention having to load and unload the packages ourselves.

But thanks to Petmobile, pet owners can be relieved of these chores, while still getting the high-end pet foods they want.

The company's exclusive brands, Amibouff and Vetdiet®, come in 32 formulas to meet pets' varied nutritional needs, and they retail for 5% to 10% less than comparable products sold by the competition.

Moreover, Petmobile carries some 5,000 pet care and comfort products. Simply put, Petmobile's

products meet consumers' demands, guaranteeing success for any dealer.

But there's more...

Petmobile has developed effective strategies to ensure that new dealers succeed.

The company charges no fees for rights to a territory or the concept itself, nor are there any start-up or franchising fees.

An initial $5,000 investment provides dealers with a large selection of products and services whose value equals that of the investment itself, if taken full advantage of (see box).

And up to 50% of this investment can be financed by Petmobile on approved credit.

All stock merchandise is 100% guaranteed for the first three months.

As such, dealers turn a profit quickly and, after only two years, will find themselves earning between $1,000 and $1,500 a week.

This may sound too good to be true, but it's not: Petmobile takes good care of its dealers, because their success is Petmobile's success. An investment that pays!

Petmobile dealers receive:

• a protected territory defined to suit their needs, at no cost

• a starting kit valued at $1,300, which includes advertising and marketing materials as well as product samples

• 48 hours of telemarketing paid for by Petmobile, a value of $1,368

• 50% of the salary of an employee doing door-to-door solicitation, up to $2,500

• business management software

• access to a customized transactional Web site

• comprehensive training in sales and distribution as well as pet nutrition
