In January 2005, Toronto-based franchise management company, Heron Capital Corporation, acquired the Canadian master franchise rights for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®.

Said Heron Capital Corporation president and CEO John Prittie, "The business philosophy of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® was in sync with how we view our customer and business partner relationships. Because of a long-standing home building legacy, we see some key marketing opportunities for our franchisees."

" We expect to be very successful in building a strong Canadian franchise business," said the 25-year franchise industry veteran. " Our long term goal is to develop and support a network of 40 to 50 franchises across Canada, including Quebec. Right from day one we want to differentiate ourselves with our dedication to customer service and quality of moving. We are members of the Canadian Association of Movers and with them are committed to being a role model in the industry."

In June 2005, the first TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise opened in Hamilton, Ontario with great success and this has been followed by additional franchises in London, Halton, Mississauga South & North, Oshawa, Etobicoke, Toronto East, Toronto Mid Town, Brampton and Barrie & Central Ontario.

Building on this success, we see tremendous opportunity for continued franchise growth centred around the GTA and Southern Ontario. And, in addition, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® will be coming to the major cities and markets across Canada in the years to come.

Canadian Opportunities: Do you need moving, trucking or logistics experience ?

Chuck Resnick: No, you don't need to have experience in trucking or moving to buy a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise. The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® business model is based on providing superior customer service, managing people and schedules, and following common-sense business practices. The vast majority of our franchisees didn't have any experience in the industry before joining TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®. As a franchisee, your primary job is to manage and grow the business, to deliver superior customer service, not to drive, load or unload trucks.

Canadian Opportunities: Isn't billing customers difficult ?

Chuck Resnick: This is a cash business most of the time. Most franchises collect cash, cheque or credit card payment at the conclusion of the move, unless alternative arrangements have been made before the move starts.

Canadian Opportunities: What about buying trucks and moving equipment ? How will I know what to get ?

Chuck Resnick: TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® has participating supplier program that puts franchisees in touch with vendors who are familiar with the specific needs of our franchises. The truck and equipment specifications have already been established to provide the optimum service level for our customers.

Canadian Opportunities: Who are TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®'s typical customer ?

Chuck Resnick:TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is able to handle any home or business move, be it one large valuable house¬hold item or an entire business.

Chuck Resnick: Each territory is defined by municipal boundaries and postal codes. It typically contains a population of approximately 400,000.

Canadian Opportunities: Does TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® offer training and support for its franchisees ?

Chuck Resnick: Yes. The Initial Training program consists of two weeks at STICK MEN UNIVERSITY®, located at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Home office in Lansing, Michigan. All aspects of business operations are covered during training, including business plan development, sales, marketing, human resources, information technology and operations. There are also ongoing training programs conducted during the refresher training programs on all aspects of the business.

Canadian Opportunities: Will an office ?

Chuck Resnick: Yes. A typical office is 1,500-2,000 square feet in a highly visible industrial/commercial complex where parking for trucks is permitted. The primary function of the office is sales related and storage is necessary for supplies and equipment.

Canadian Opportunities: What is the term of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise agreement ?

Chuck Resnick: Initial term of the Franchise Agreement is 5 years with a renewal or extension of an additional 5 year term.

Canadian Opportunities: How do I apply to become a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchisee and how long will it take ?

Chuck Resnick: Our franchise territories are awarded to pre-qualified candidates. To start the process you must complete and submit a Franchise Application Form. Once the form is received and you are preliminarily approved you will be invited to a Discovery Day meeting where all your questions will be answered and you will be provided with a Franchise Disclosure document that describes the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise opportunity in detail.
